DermaZoo’s KC Oto-Pack combines the anti-fungal action of 0.15% Ketoconazole and the anti-pruritic action of 1.0% Hydrocortisone in a sustained release thermally activated gel. KC Oto-Pack aids in the treatment of acute and chronic otitis in dogs and cats in cases where Ketoconazole and Hydrocortisone might be effective. The gel coats the epithelial surface of the ear, releasing the Ketoconazole and Hydrocortisone slowly over a period of up to 7 days. Removal from the site of application is not required, and the product is non-toxic and biodegradable. KC Oto-Pack is liquid at cool temperatures and a gel at warmer temperatures. The viscosity of the gel increases as temperature increases or as it is applied to the ear canal.
Most ear infections are the result of a Malassezia infection. This product is ideal because it doesn’t contain antibiotics, which are often not necessary and if provided in a sustained release formulation may even stimulate antibiotic resistance.
This product also provides convenience – with a single in-hospital infusion so clients don’t have to apply medication at home – provides sustained release, and is ideal for yeast only infections where an antibiotic isn’t necessary.
KC Oto-Pack is available in a 2 oz jar (54 ml) which contains enough product to pre-fill eighteen (18), 3 ml applicator tip syringes. It is recommended that the product be stored at room temperature and then distributed into the applicator tip syringes and sealed with tape. The syringes can be stored at room temperature prior to use.
Clean, Dry, and then Apply
Ear(s) should be cleaned, dried and then KC Oto-Pack can be applied to the ear canal(s). The ear(s) should cleaned withGlycozoo Otic and then a bulb syringe filled with water to completely flush out the cleanser, and then dried using cotton swabs. Next, a 3 ml applicator syringe filled with DermaZoo’s KC Oto-Pack can be applied to the vertical ear canal(s). The ear(s) should then be massaged and the patient held still to prevent the product from being shaken from the ear(s) and to allow it to solidify, which takes approximately 1-2 minutes. If using KC Oto-Pack for a 2nd consecutive week, recleaning with GlycoZoo Otic is suggested but not required.
